Don't be Shy...
Now I can't promise Silkie won't meow at you..
and you know Hamish won't be gone forever..
So come on Stanley...come sit with me and watch some TV, I'm sure a bit of Dallas will cheer you up xx
Now shut your ears Stanley...
Stanley was made from my 'Hamish' pattern inspired by the old pic below of Cath Kidston and her little Stanley, designed by Mr M and I (Thank goodness for Mr M's 3 d model making skills for figuring out Hamish's head!) he is made exactly the same way as Hamish...German Mohair, fully jointed, weighted and stuffed with straw.
Oh and I thought you may find this funny...me at 7am this morning with Miss Sue...no lay in for me!!
Happy Sunday Bloggers xx

Making Stanley...
Do you you think Cath K will mind? I have just bought some more mohair fabric that is the perfect colour for a lakeland terrier. Plus I pretty much have a free weekend to play on the sewing machine, and since making Hamish I want to make more and more characters...(I won't know what to do with them all!) I'm planning on adapting my Hamish pattern, with a few tweeks, made the old fashioned way with nuts and bolts!
Oh and don't forget, today is the last day to enter my picture painting giveaway, I will let you know who the winner is tomorrow xx
Hamish update...
He is already on his travels across the country and I have been told that he is behaving himself so far as long as he gets a tickle under the chin and a piece of chocolate from time to timexx
See u tomorrow xx

Thankyou!!!
to you dear bloggers for all your wonderful comments about Hamish xxRob was really chuffed you took the time to comment so positively about his work. Just to let you know (Those of you who asked) Rob created Hamish whilst still at Uni, when he was studying Illustration. He was originally exhibited at The Royal Collage of Art, along with a first draft of the 'Hamish' story.
Since then Robs artwork and his stories have been sat in a drawer, up until recently, when Rob decided to have another go at writing more and painting more illustrations.
Hamish has never been published, but its Robs dream that he is...so thankyou once again for your kind words xx
Now for another heartfelt thankyou to LYN lyn-everydaylife.blogspot.comxxx
I received a message from Lyn, to say that she had something to send to me, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened this.
Lyn has painted my precious Silkie Sue, and boy can this lady paint!!
The detail in this beautiful painting is just wonderful, and as soon as I can I will be having the picture framed. Isn't this blogland of ours just wonderful?, dear Lyn took the time to do this for me, for no reason, just a kind gesture, how nice is that?
Please go and visit Lyn's blog xxx
And one final thing...have you heard about Cath Kidston selling part of her company...it sent ripples at work today I can tell you, and my heart sank a little....
But hey ho! i was suddenly inspired by this photo!
Now can you see who has inspired me...may be a little 'Stanley' Lakeland Terrier needs to be created here at Silkies...I enjoyed making Hamish so much, that my fingers are itching for another project...what do you think dear bloggers???
Bye for now

Hamish...
Well at last I would like to introduce you to Hamish....
He is a brave Scotty Dog, and his adventures all over the world are currently being put to paper by my husband Mr M.
Hamish was created and illustrated by Mr M over 15 years ago, when he first appeared in some paintings for a childrens picture book...(as yet to be published) Rob is a very talented artist, and has also worked on artwork for Disney. (Don't blush Mr M!) He always wanted to see Hamish as a real toy and luckily has experience of making and constructing plush toys, so I had to give it a go!
As you can see Hamish has been around for some time, and has been loved by many children.
He has also had some very exciting and dangerous adventures!
(Now for the bits Hamish doesn't like me to mention....)
He is made from my very own pattern... (Thank goodness for the Oxfam book shop...so you want to learn to make toys book!) his fur is German Mohair, and he is fully jointed with old-fashioned cotter-pins,(Hamish doesn't like to think that he has 'nuts and bolts inside!) weighted and stuffed with straw and real bootbutton eyes. His Jacket has been made from scratch, and has little vintage buttons....(Hamish picked those himself!) and he carries a vintage mexican sword (to protect himself and friends should they ever get into bother!)
And he will soon be off to the City of London, in his very own suitcase..to help to sell his stories...
fingers and toes crossed!
Happy friday bloggers
Love Sam and Hamish xx
